Mission:
Taking Wing
Location: Shuttle Bay
ON
Amber gave everyone twenty minutes to grab their gear and meet in the shuttle bay to head down to the planet. She was both pleased and relieved that the entity had turned away from the ship. She firmly believed that it was harmless. The difficulty was proving it. She hoped that the trip to the planet would help them find the information they needed.
Djeneba headed straight towards the shuttle bay as she still had her pack with her. She wondered what it was that they had encountered as she waited for the others to arrive. Her fingers tapped the tricorder at her waist once again to verify that it was seated snugly in place as she stepped aboard the shuttle that had been assigned to them and started to stow her gear. She paused in thought and wondered if she might need sample containers and headed off the shuttle in a hurry to get to science before they departed. When Djeneba returned she had a PADD in hand and some sample containers she opened her pack and added them and closed it back into storage.
Amber was checking the contents of one of the storage lockers when she heard the sounds of someone else on the shuttle. She finished her check and headed back to the main compartment. "Hi," she said.
Trei came into the shuttle bay followed by a tall blond man in security yellow, both with type two phasers and tricorders at their waists. Jansum stopped beside the Commander. "Ready to go, Commander?" he asked with a smile.
"As soon as Mr. K'Tock shows up," she said.
Djeneba acknowledged the newcomers with phasers with a nod "Hi, I'm Djeneba Nastari."
The tall Betazed nodded and smiled. "Lt Jansum, chief of security. This is Petty Officer Chase. We'll be keeping you little ladies safe today."
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lieutenant Jansom and Petty Officer Chase." Djeneba replied with a smile of her own and a nod at each of them as she addressed them "This shuttle seems as if she wouldn't harm us much as for the entity that is debatable."
Trei grinned again. "I leave that stuff in your capable hands. I'm here for protection, I leave the technical stuff to the ones who know what they're doing. The most I can do is fix a console or a replicator, and even that takes me a while."
Amber still didn't think the entity would harm them, not unless they did something to make it think they were going to harm it, first. She also wasn't sure she liked being referred to as a little lady.
Djeneba's pack started to slide out of the storage container and she realized she had not secured it properly and caught it one handed and placed it back into the storage compartment that was over her head and replied "I try to let engineering handle the things they need to handle. Plasma coils, and replicator repairs aren't as interesting to me as things of old. They hold more stories in them then ships parts do." Djeneba double checked the storage latch this time and lowered her arms and looked around for an open seat and asked "Commander, are you handling the science station on the shuttle or should I?"
"That depends on Lieutenant Ka'Tock," she said. She turned to the counselor. "Would you like to pilot the ship?"
"It would be my pleasure." Ka'Tock said as he moved to take position in the Pilot's chair, placing his satchel aside and tilting his head slightly. "This console is not in Klingon..." He gave a hint of a smile'"What is that word for starting the engines?" He said as his fingers deftly danced along the start up sequence. "Ah yes , there is all is." He had the ship humming like a kitten. "Sorry , this is a little more fancy than what I usually flew." gently lifting off the deck. "Computer has cleared us for departure so please make sure your gear is stowed and the seats are in the upright position." He nosed the shuttle towards the exit.
Amber turned to Djeneba. "Do you want science or communications?"
The shorter woman glanced up at the taller woman "Commander either is fine." When she received her orders Djeneba took her position.
Amber took her seat at communications. "Whenever you're ready, Mr. KaTock."
"Exiting shuttle bay." Ka'Tock kept his attention more on the 'feel' from the controls and what kind of 'Attitude' the shuttle had that he should control? Taking the shuttle past the implied 'Outer buoy' he put the impulse engines to power and brought the shuttle about to the planet's atmosphere.
"Lieutenant Nastari, scan the planet, the atmosphere and the solar radiation. I want to know how the solar radiation has changed since our last visit, and if the planet has been affected," Amber said.
"Yes Commander." Djeneba replied soft sounds responded to her fingertips at the console before her and her requests for the scans to be taken. "It will take a few minutes for the scans to be completed."
