Mission:
Caverns of the mind
Location: Shuttlebay
Timeline: MD 04 0947 hours
ON
Trei and Troilon entered the shuttlebay, each had a bag over one shoulder with some water packets. Trei had a tricorder at one hip, and his phaser at the other. He nodded at Deville, who was standing beside a shuttlecraft. "Lieutenant," he said in greeting before climbing aboard.
Pippa arrived shortly after. Her thoughts were on the upcoming mission, so she slipped onto the shuttle with only a nod to the others, then took a seat.
Azusa emerged quietly from a side door. She carried her engineering kit and supplies that she might need. She joined the team quietly.
Nicoles had her Medical Field Case on rollers; special design as the thing is heavy and a Lady does not 'Lug things about' she came to the shuttle and with her usual bright smile she boarded and took her pack to stow for departure.
"Well Hello everywun, how y'all doing?" She asked in her southern draw'
Trei frowned. "Um, Doc.." he said pointing. "Don't you think you should, I don't know, have a smaller bag that you can carry?"
"Darlin' Ah am bringing a standard Field Kit; I just do not feel the need to hoist it about." Nicoles replied in that drawl. "Since we are not shure of the situation, and short of stretchers or body bags Ah am just taking worst case after-all it is better to have and not need than the other way a-round don't y'all think?"
Azusa smiled. "Theres a small luggage rack on the shuttle" she said simply. "Just don't block the aisles or the doorways and I'm sure that the conductor will be fine with it. Also make sure you have a valid ticket for the journey, no 'Klingon train services only' tickets" Azusa joked. It wasn't often she got to joke about 'such things' which for some reason thought she had a connection with... she wondered how though since she didn't really know much about trains, obviously though someone 'else' seemed to... she shook it off and wandered into the shuttle. She had pre-flight checks to do.
In Starfleet, the only thing constant was change. And the commander had changaed his mind about Xander leading the away taem. He felt that the Chief Science Officer's expertise was better utilized on the ship, and so the task fell to Amber.
She walked onto the shuttle and checked to see who was there. So far, everyone but the pilot, but he wasn't late. Yet.
Paris was the last one to board. The moment he stepped on board he looked around at all in attendance before loudly stating. "Well... Doesn't this look like a fun group?" He smirked before bowing his head to all. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am your pilot for this evening. I couple of rules before we take off. No backseat flying. No drinking, unless I am allowed to partake. No screaming. No yelling. No children or animals, if your wondering why they are in the same category, its because sometimes you can't tell the difference. Last, but certainly not least, the pilot picks the music. Passengers shut their cake holes." He clapped and smiled before walking to the front and taking his seat. His playful tone never shifted as he finally concluded. "So, shall we begin?"
"Please, Mr. Deville, we are on pins and needles," Amber said, her tone dry, but there was a twinkle of humor sparkling in her eyes.
"Pippa, inform the ship we're launching," Amber continued.
Pippa nodded. "Aye, ma'am." A minute later she reported, "They acknowledge and wish us luck."
Amber smiled. "Good. Now, Mr. Deville, let's see if you fly as good as you talk."
"If you wanted it in writing, you should have looked at my file before now." Paris replied with a smile, his eyes focused on the console as his fingers glided from button to button, as if with a sense of grace or style. "If you were looking for a first hand experience, Commander, now is as good a time as any." He looked over to her, with a wink, however his hands continued to move along the keys of the pilot's console. "Or would you prefer a private showing?" He looked back toward the glass that revealed void of space and tapped the com button before Amber had a moment to respond. "Shuttle to Aurora. Does us a favor and keep a candle burning in the window for us should we lose our way." Paris smirked, wondering if any of them understood the significance of his request.
The shuttle lifted from it's assigned location and proceeded forward, phasing through the force field, allowing them to enter cold darkness of space. It soon began to move forward, quickly taking a high angled turn and proceeding into a dive toward the planet and their destination.
Amber looked at him intently for a moment, then switched her gaze to the viewscreen.
The trip to the planet was brief and uneventful. When Paris landed the shuttle, Amber smiled. "Thank you, Mr. Deville. You're welcome to come with us, or stay with the shuttle."
"How generous of you, Commander." Paris replied with a smile as he locked out the controls and began to shut down the shuttle. "Stay behind and get bored or go with the rest of you and... get bored. It's a tough decision." He smirked as he looked over to Amber, a quick wink which only she would catch, before adding. "Unless the Commander has a preference?"
Did she have a preference? Maybe. But anything she said would get her in trouble.. "You have a right to decide how you want to be bored," she replied suavely. "And with whom."
Paris smirked, as if amused by an inside joke, raising a brow. He was aware of her indecision. It was written on her face, even if she wasn't aware, but he wasn't about to reveal to the others. His mental block assure his secrets and now her's. His smirk shifted to a sly smile before nodding his head. "I'll tag along. Never know if a new set of eyes will see something you may miss or be unaware of."
Amber nodded. "A good point. Grab your gear."
Paris stood up from his chair and looked around. He noticed everyone reaching for large bags full of technical and other equipment. For him, there wasn't much, but what he hand. No phaser, but what was concealed, and no large bag of tricks. All his tricks was already on him and where he could quickly reach it. He never saw the need and he wasn't about to start unless he knew it would be necessary. After looking around, one more time, he turned back to Amber and shrugged. "Consider it grabbed." Before shoving his hands in his pockets and letting out a slight smile.
