Taking Wing
Location: Bridge

[OLD]
"Can we focus a scan on the portion of the sun most targeted by the entity?"
[NEW]
Daniel looked to the new face on the bridge, smiled briefly, and nodded. "Kindly focus a scan on the portion of the sun's mass that the lifeform has been... well, chewing on."
The officer at the science station nodded, performed the commands, and looked up from the console. "Sir... there's some sort of subspace micro-fissure in the sun's chromosphere. It's giving off an immense amount of omicron radiation, not to mention it seems as though it's having an effect on the temperatures near it - as though it's absorbing the fusion from the star."
Daniel nodded, looking to Amber. "It sounds as though we might know why the lifeform is here. Go ahead and reach out, Amber. This is your show now."
"Yes, sir," Amber said. She turned to the Operations officer. "Let's see if we can still communicate with the entity."
Amber used the program created the last time and started with a basic greeting and an assurance that they meant the creature no harm. The message was sent three times. The third time, the entity paused and seemed to pay attention to the message. Then it sent a response.
Amber watched as the program translated. "You from past?"
"Yes," Amber and the Ops officer sent. "We are the ones who were here before. Why are you here? Is it because of the omicron radiation?" She wasn't sure if it understood what she said, but she was hoping it would get enough to respond.
"Light leak. Danger. Bad for other. Eat help."
Amber turned to the Captain and the others on the bridge. "I think that, too, is pretty definitive."
Trei didn't know whether to laugh at the response. "It wants to help stop the sun...by eating it?"
"No, Lieutenant," Daniel looked between Amber and Kizre. "The entity's attempting to consume the anomaly that's damaging the sun. Ensign, scan the anomaly - what's stopping the lifeform from getting this done?"
The science officer at the console ran a few more scans before answering. "Sir, it looks as though the fissure's almost the size of the lifeform. It might simply be too large to consume effectively."
"Alright then," Daniel turned to the bridge at large. "Options. How do we make that meal more reasonable for the lifeform?"
"Well, if we could close the crack, it would decrease the output to more manageable levels," Amber said. "That would require inserting an explosive device into the crevasse. But if our calculations are off, we could make it worse."
"Then that's what we'll do. Amber, apprise the lifeform of our plan. Lieutenant Jansum, begin modifications on a torpedo to Commander Quinn's specifications."
Amber prepared the message to send through Communications. "We will send an explosive device to close the rift. Please move away." It didn't come out quite like that once it was converted to a mathematical formula and then to sound vibrations, but the message should be understood.
"Me move far safe," the entity replied.
"Captain." Ka'Tock began in his baritone voice at conversational level. "If I were to be on a Klingon ship as her Helm and had Metaphasic shielding, I would be more likely to be able to get up close and personal with the placing of the charges and the sensory range might give better readings for the calculations?" He suggested. "Why not get 'Up Close and Personal' when fighting an enemy, or a rift that threatens like an enemy?" Ka'Tock spoke as casually as he would the weather on a planet. "Seems like it would help both parties to be precise in our helping cut things to an editable proportion?"
Daniel nodded, "You have the conn, counselor. Careful we aren't so close that the shields require more power than we can spare.'
"I will not let it be known that with the reputation of counselors at the helm you allowed me this honor." Ka'Tock remarked with a slight grin before he moved to the Helm Station and nod as the Officer vacated the space to the seat was a mixed emotion and Ka'Tock let his fingers do the practiced dance along the console.
Taking in the cooordinates that were projected for the charges Ka'YTock took note of the shielding as well, the power it took from his own maneuvering as well as the gravity flux and heat upon the ship. All of these formed a type of graphic course image in his mind as he eased the ship forward. He would keep all of this data in his mind and changing as they approached.
"Tactical and Science please call out any subtle adjustments you require; I do not mind the additional permissions to push the envelope of this along the way." Ka'Tock said with a grin on his face , he was back in an old element. I will put you where you need if the projected placement is not to your liking." THe ship was moving with some slight tremors; which were to be expected from such a course into a star, as Ka'Tock slipped the ship neatly along the projected course. "Coming to the first placement point I have a radius of 5,000 meter sphere around drop point to play with, the call is yours." Ka"Tock announced.
Djeneba walked swiftly onto the bridge and received an update from the science officer that had stayed until she could arrive. She took the second station and read the data there, quick calculations later "Prepare for an additional solar flare, this one is going to hit a bit harder then the others and cause more waves." she called out so that the others could adjust for it.
"We might hold fire until the flare is over." Ka'Tock's fingers dancing over the controls as he used the laterals to bring the Aurora about to face the coming flare and propose the smallest profile to the blast. "I might hold on if I were you, I talk from experience with solar flares and impacts." Ka'Tock was just completing his heading adjustments.
"It depends on the flare," Amber said, quickly checking the data. "Shields can withstand the effects for a short time. We don't need to be inside the corona to launch the probe. We can maintain a safe distance and still be effective." A message appeared on her console. "The probes should be ready to launch in fifteen minutes."
