Checking In and Setting Appointments

963 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Caverns of the mind
Location: Security Offices

ON:

Paris walked down the corridor, with Gizmo on his shoulder, making his way to the Security Offices. He hated Security Officers. His experience with them had never ended well. Interesting considering his history and how much of a by the book Officer he used to be. That was a long time ago. A very long time ago. Now his present and past spoke for themselves and it didn't convey a sense of trust or loyalty. Which didn't bother Deville. He would rather keep everyone at a distance.

He approached the door to the offices and hit the chime. Paris removed the PADD from under his arm and waited for a response.

Trei arrived to his office just in time to see someone ring the chime. "Hi," he said to the man, trying not to scare him. "I'm the Chief of Security. Can I help you?"

Upon hearing the voice from behind, he clenched his fist, but took in a deep breath before turning around to face him. Paris narrowed his eyes slightly, immediately noticing the black eyes, before letting out a laugh. "And so you are." He smirked, holding his hands out a bit just as quickly blocking off his mind to keep from anything to seep out. "Paris Deville. Chief Helmsman and soon to be thorn in your side." He smirked before letting out a slight chuckle. "I'm joking... naturally." Deville handed him the PADD with his orders and record which shine on both his Starfleet and Criminal dealings, as well as, a few allegations which never led to any convictions.

Trei took the padd and shook his head. "Of course. And I wasn't intruding. Usually when people come to the security offices, they are checking in with me." He led the way into his office. He sat at his desk, offering a seat to the newcomer, and went over the information on the padd. The further down he read, the narrower his dark eyes got. "Interesting read," he said, looking up at Deville.

Paris followed slowly, taking a moment or two while they walked to look around the office, before looking over to Trei. "That's just the highlights. If you only knew the stuff that wasn't in that file." He smiled devilishly before placing his hands in his pockets.

Trei gave the man a look. "Am I going to have trouble from you, Lieutenant?" he asked slowly.

"You gotta catch me first, Boss." Paris replied smoothly with a smirk before chuckling a bit. "Joking... naturally." He smiled as he raised his hand to pet Gizmo. "I don't plan on getting into trouble, but if I can't promise, it won't catch up with me from time to time."

Trei frowned. "Stay out of trouble and I won't throw you in the brig. The really bad ones get bread, water, and gruel. That's what I do to troublemakers. Keep your nose clean and I won't have to do that."

"Starfleet has surely fallen from its views on prisoner tolerance and always wanting to be the bigger organization." Paris replied softly, in almost a whispering tone, before smiling at adding. "Then again, it just may be this ship that goes by its own rules." He stood there quietly and kept his eyes locked on the Chief before smiling playfully, while his tone shifted to a more happy one. "I'll play nice if you do, Boss. So, what do we have to do to make this go smoothly? When do you have to take a look at my toys?"

Trei shook his head. "No, that's just me." He looked at his schedule and turned back to Deville. "I have a 1500 appointment open for phaser certification. We can do it then. If that is acceptable?"

"You're the boss... Boss." Deville replied with a smile before holding his arms out slightly before continuing. "You say 1500 and I'll be there with bells on, but you may not hear them go off as I approach. Best you come by the quarters sometime to check out what I have, it's not like I can carry them all to you anyway." He leaned forward and held his hand out, motioning for the PADD.

Trei handed him the padd back. "Any weapons you have, I need to make sure you can use them correctly. You will bring them."

"Weapons? Of course." Deville smiled, taking the PADD quickly. "I'll bring all my weapons... for you to see."

Trei frowned. "What else do you have that I need to check? If it's illegal, I have no problem confiscating it."

"Bits and bobbles. Trinkets from history. Memories." Deville replied softy, leaning forward a bit with a smile. "And tools of my trade. No threats really to anyone else. None as dangerous as a weapon."

Trei nodded. "I'll come take a look at the rest of it. I get the feeling some of it will need to be cleared with Lt. Nakano, if they're tools. If there is nothing else, I will see you at 1500."

"Two appointments in one day, Chief." Deville replied with a smirk before leaned forward a bit and adding in a soft tone. "You better be careful. Getting acquainted with me has been known to be bad for peoples reputation."

Trei's eyes narrowed. This guy is pushing it, he thought. "I really do have to get back to work, Lieutenant," he said bluntly.

"Funny..." Deville smirked and walked away. "I thought you were working." He waved his had slightly before walking out of the opened door. "1500 hours, Chief."

Trei ground his teeth as the El-Aurian left. That one is going to be trouble.
