Mission:
Cloud Surfing
Location: Crews Quarters
Lieutenant Junior Grade Kuroko Shirai straightened her uniform as she looked out at her new assignment, the Starship Aurora. It was a small Nova class science vessel, the smallest vessel she had ever served upon. She had accepted the position of the ships assistant chief of security.
She was excited to be on a small ship, she wanted to feel like a part of a crew and family again. She had heard of the ship being pulled far away, but had come back due to the crew's determination to get home. She looked forward to serving aboard the ship itself. She also heard that the Captain was a Klingon too, unusual for a Science Vessel.
She began to make her way towards the airlock, her bag thrown over her shoulder. Handing a PADD to the security officer on the airlock, she was granted access to the ship. The first stop would be her new quarters.
[Sick Bay]
Nicoles had a hard time getting through the day; she had slept and done all her usual routines to help her sleep yet it did not come easily; she had some underlying matter in the back of her mind. She had cursed herself when she mentioned to herself that things were starting to look up; they had gotten back to the Correct quadrant; Mamaw had called to wish Tessa a Welcome and urging her to come home, so life should have been good.
The ship was a flurry of people working and celebrating being back in the Federation again; to medical it was the same thing. People getting minor injuries from damaged systems biting the repair people and contusions from the parties getting a little too 'tipsy' and accidents that follow.
The good thing is that Nicoles was able to chat with the crew as she patched them and healed their 'Boo'boos' but managed not to offer them a lollipop if they werew good while she did her healing.
Luck was a Lady like Nicoles as the shift was winding down and she could get a hot shower at least if she did not opt to use Holodeck time for a real bath in a very large and hot tub?
[Kuroko's Quarters]
Kuroko had finished unpacking, she had tied up her hair in her signature twintails. She was pleased as she didn't have to share with anyone and she finally had her own room, all be it small. Her Academy degree now sitting on the side next to the small desk and a few personal items on display.
She checked over her uniform again and gave herself a quick glance in the mirror before heading to the door. She needed to report into her senior officer, that would be the ships new chief of security.
The door slid open with a swish and she stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes opened in shock as she stared at the sight before her.
Nicoles came out of her quarters after a very hot shower and having changed into a cream yellow Sundress with a halter collar, fitted waist that flared into the past the knee skirt. The white straw hat and matching colored shoes, she had left the gloves in her room.
The doors slid shut as Nicoles stare ahead of her at the person in the corridor; her eyes could not believe as her throat tightened and her chest began to follow.
"On-my..." She said as her right hand instinctively went to her heart that was all a flutter.
Kuroko started at her, reached out slowly and poked her lightly on the arm. She stepped back in shock. "You're not meant to be here...why are you here? You're supposed to be dead!" She said.
"Don't you touch me..." Nicoles snapped in reply.
Nicoles' hand lashed out without a second's consideration and slapped Kuroko across the left cheek before Nicoles put her nose in that haughty manner, flicker her hair over her shoulder and dug her heels into the carpeting so firmly they rotated on the metal decking base as she spun on her heels to leave.
"Drop dead yourself Sugar Plum." She said with her first step in removing herself from this utterly ridiculous situation. Saying Tessa should be dead after all Kuroko had done was a fine first greeting after breaking what she had.
Kuroko didn't know what had just happened. "Wait!" She shouted following her down the corridor. "Stop!" She said. She needed answers as to what had happened.
There was no intention of stopping as the tears stung her eyes threatening to flow, but Nicoles was a 'Lady' and therefore would not show tears in public, that would not be lady-like and she is damned sure not to let Kuroko see any of her pain. She did not slow and pressed forth with a silent curse of not wearing flats instead of low heels; danged fashion requirements aside.
"Not even flowers to speak of." She cast back without looking over her shoulders. "Such respect of the dead."
Nicoles had to get farther than Kuroko; this was just some trick by that rude man Fate to just put Nicoles into a tizzy, well she would not give either of them the satisfaction, the turbo lift was looming close if only she could get in and press that close command before 'That Woman' caught up.
"Wait!"Kuroko called stepping up to a light job testing yo not literally run after her. "Where have you been?" She called. It was nearly three years ago that their ship had been destroyed. Kuroko looked for her, she had been listed on the 'lost crew' list, now obviously some horrible mistake. "You're not dead!".
She wanted to scream out all of the emotions that were brewing in her mind like soup. She wanted to let her know that she had never moved on. But she just couldn't get it out. Finally she yelled as loud as she could.
"WAS I ANYTHING TO YOU?!"
One should not be surprised how well heels are anchors for stopping and a pivot point as Nicoles whirled around with her hands planted on her hips to match the glare she put between them.
"How dare yew..." She leaned forward to emphasize the darkness in her eyes as she stomped her foot. "Yew better not be asking that again." Her low growl with strong southern drawl in the tone.
Kuroko was taken off guard a bit. "You just disappeared. I spent months hoping you'd come back. Hoping that you were alive. And now you're here and without a care for what we had... why?!"
Nicoles just stare for two full seconds, the doors to the Lift opened and she remained speechless another second.
"You should have looked instead of leaving me..." She partly turned to enter the lift. "Door close..."
Kuroko stood there, wiped a few escaped tears from her eyes before turning away from the door. "Fine, if thats the way we're going to play this. I'm totally over all this..." she lied to herself as she stomped back to her quarters.
"A lady does not cry... Dang nab her..." Nicoles said as she had to find a powder room somewhere on this deck so she could.
