Mission:
Caverns of the mind
Location: Holodeck
Trei stood and offered his arm to Azusa, knowing that human women liked it when their men did this. Then he led her to holodeck, where the program was already running. They entered into a huge ballrom/dining room combo, with a soaring ceiling gilded with silver in lays in intricate designs, walls in a beautiful blue, and a floor a smooth marble in a pale blue with purple shot throughout. They entered the garden through French doors, where everything was blooming. Not everything in that garden bloomed at the same time, such as the Andorian glitterlings and Oriental lilies, but the mood roses were beautiful. There was a golden gazebo covered in Klingon jasmine. The garden floor was flagstone, worn down and made into a smooth surface. The fireflies were at the edge of the garden, their flatulence lighting up the night. The light wind carried the scent of a dozen different species of flowers from a dozen worlds, but it light enough that it was a perfect balance. Once they reached a certain part of the garden, soft music began to play, and Trei took Azusa's hand and twirled her before bringing her back and placing his other hand on her hip.
Azusa seemed a little dazed from the sudden twirl. "Well" she said "that was unexpected" she said trying to regain her footing. She had a quick look around. "Did you program this?"
Trei smiled down at her. "I've had this program for a while, but no, I did not design it. I bought it last time I was home on Betazed." They danced through the garden, just staring into each other's eyes. Eventually, they came to a gazebo and Trei led the way to the bench inside it; it was covered in jasmine and climbing roses, and the scents were intoxicating. "I'd like to show you more of the holoprograms I have...but that would require another date," he hinted, with a smile.
"I see" Azusa said with a small smile. "Although, I should teach you how to create your own programs too" she told him as she sat down on the bench. "All my programs have cats in them though. You should be aware of that. Yui-Senpai used to call me Azu-Nyan".
"Let me guess: Nyan means cat? What is your obsession with cats?" he said, half-laughing.
Azusa blushed. "It happened at high school. I got... forced... to put on cat ears when I joined the Light Music Club by Yui-Senpai. It's where the nickname Azu-Nyan came from. Plus, I've kinda grown fond of the little felines, especially after I cared for a friends one weekend" Azusa explained. "And yes, Nyan is the Japanese word for Meow" she smiled.
"I don't know if they have cats on Betazed?"
"Not one you would want for a pet," Trei replied. "They're large, vicious, wild animals. The only domesticated felines come from other planets, and very few people keep them as pets. Their minds are too predatory for most of my people, especially children who are just beginning to develop their telepathy. It can be a very scary time for a child. You suddenly hear everyone's thoughts, and animals' states of mind, too. Domesticated dogs are much better, especially Labrador Retrievers from Earth. Those things are the biggest babies I've ever been around."
"Never been much of a dog person" Azusa replied. "But then again, I'm up to try anything..." she suddenly turned a bright shade of red. "I...I...I don't mean... you know... I mean first date and all, although some people do... that... I'm just... I don't know... I'm going to shut up now. I'm no good at this sort of stuff!" She stuttered once again jumping to conclusions.
Trei smiled and shook his head, trying not to laugh. "You're doing fine. Just try to relax a bit. If you're up for trying anything, I could get you a dog. Just not a Chihuahua. Those things drive me nuts, the little psychos."
"But dog's don't go meow" Azusa said narrowing her eyes a little. "So apart from Animals, what else do Betazoids do for fun?"
"I like sports of any kind including football, American rules football, paresis squares, velocity, watching competitive surfing tournaments, and my father taught me baking and cooking because on Betazed, the women are in charge and he thought I should know how to take care of my family," he said with a nervous laugh. "I also like working out, swimming competitively and what humans call skinny dipping."
Azusa blushed bright red at the thought of Skinny Dipping. "I'm not a sporty type, I do enjoy sweet things though" she explained. "I prefer music, although I don't mind the occasional swim"
Trei nodded. "I could make you some fudge, a chocolate souffle, or some kava juice cookies. My specialty is uttaberry muffins. Music is good too, though I prefer the technorock coming out of Andor and other places lately. You aren't a bad singer yourself. My sister is trying to get me to learn to dance. I tried it a few times with a holodeck teacher, but it never held my interest long enough to finish a lesson." He finished speaking, giving her a look. A look that said if she was up for it, so was he.
"Traditional rock and pop for me" Azusa replied. "Since I play electric guitar" she explained to him. "I'd like some fudge one day though, but not too much. I can only handle small amounts"
Chuckling, he guessed, "Because you're so tiny?"
"I'm not tiny.... not in that way anyway!" she said placing both hands on her chest. "Do you like.... you know... bigger ones?" she asked blushing.
Trei blinked. "Um. I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to your height. As for your um..." he gestured at her chest, "I think they are quite nice, though I am more of a leg man."
Turning a bright shade of magenta Azusa looked away. "I see..." she replied. Her mind was running wild, she had no idea what to do now. "Well, I do wear skirts a lot. I have skirted varients of my uniform, would that be better?"
Trei grinned. "Well...it would give me more reason to hang around Engineering, but if it hinders your ability to get in certain places to fix things..."
She cocked her head to one side. "How so... oh, wait..." she pondered it for a moment. "I think I know what you mean.... But it wouldn't matter if it was only me"
Trei shook his head. "Nope. Wouldn't matter at all. But I wouldn't know where to find you," he teased.
Azusa laughed. "Well I do know this ship inside and out, quite literally" she said wiping a few of the tears of laughter from her eyes. "Sign of a good engineer I guess" she giggled.
Trei thought for a moment, then shrugged his eyebrows and nodded. "Yeah, I guess that would be true." He wiped a tear from her cheek with his thumb and kept his hand there, staring at her.
"So, do you have anything in the Security Department that a future potential partner should worry about?" she asked in a rather flirty tone, totally out of character for her, but it showed she was relaxing slightly.
He put his hand down, sighing inwardly. She is really clueless in these things, he thought to himself. Still, he tried to smile for her. "Well, if there is an away team, I'm the first one to go, since I'm responsible for everyone's safety. And because of that, I'm usually one of the first to get injured, even if it is just a twisted ankle."
Azusa blushed a bright shade of red. She looked away for a brief second and then looked back at him, her hazel eyes shining. "I..." she paused. "I don't want you to get hurt..." she told him. She felt her heart pounding against her chest, something was coming together in her mind and it was starting to scare her a little.
"I don't want him to be ever hurt... I think... Is this what 'that' feels like? He's really close right now... I've never kissed a guy before. Could this be that time? Do you think he'll approve? I really suck at this dating stuff..." she thought to herself. "Can... we do this more often?" she asked nervously. She grabbed his sleeve. "I'm rather... enjoying this..."
Trei smiled and nodded. "So am I." He wasn't going to let her know that he knew what she was thinking, because he was pretty sure she already knew. He leaned forward, trying to accommodate his much longer frame to reach her shorter one. His face inched closer to hers...his eyes closed....their lips met...
Azusa's eyes closed as their lips met. This was a strange new sensation for her, actual physical contact with someone. "This..." she couldn't think more as a good feeling filled her up inside. When they broke free she stared into his eyes.
"That was... my first time. Sorry. I'm... not very good at this..." she told him softly. "I'll be honest... I don't know what happens now" she said to him simply. She took his hand, intertwining her fingers with his. "Do we do that again?" she thought to herself. She had forgotten that Trei could sometime pick up on her thoughts, but her mind was running away on this new sensation and feelings that she had never experienced before.
Trei grinned. "Now...we do it again." And he kissed her again, with more passion this time. With one hand behind her back so she wouldn't fall, his other hand went to her sweet-smelling hair. His lips worked with hers in strange new ways that she had not felt before.
The second time felt better. It didn't feel awkward to her now, it felt normal. After breaking free she rested her head on his shoulder as she allowed herself to be pulled into him. "I like this" she whispered to him softly.
"So do I," he said huskily. They sat there like that for quite a while, until the chime went off, and he slowly walked her home. When they were in front of her door, he leaned down and kissed her good night. "Good night, Azusa."
Azusa blushed as he left. "Good night" she said in response just before the doors shut. She stepped into her quarters a little further and stood staring out of the window for a few seconds, she wasn't too sure how she was feeling. She could still smell him on her clothes, his scent and it felt... good. Smiling she made her way into her bedroom to relax and get some sleep. Her heart pounded at the thought of going on another date with him, with a hint of excitement.
