The Aurora's Bridge
The Aurora's bridge, previously organized in a roundabout formation in order to encourage scientific work, has been somewhat standardized in order to improve its handling and response in high-priority or emergency situations.
As before, the command chairs for both commanding officer and first officer sit in the middle of the bridge, with the commanding officer seated on the right. Between them is a command-function console that allows library computer access and also access to higher-level command functions, such as shipwide comms or the self-destruct. On the far side of each seat are benches meant for visitors to the bridge.
In the aftmost area of the bridge lie the consoles most critical to the Aurora's mission - the Master Systems Display and the mission-configurable science and engineering consoles. Utilized in conjunction with the laboratory and engineering facilities aboard the ship, the aft consoles are designed to be hot-swappable, switching between theoretical computer modeling, sensor analysis, system diagnostic, and library functions in an instant.
The central console in the bridge is the Conn, helm control. Manned at all times when the ship is under power, this vantage allows for the helmsman to provide quick course correction, navigational calculations, and also take control of any of the ship systems in an emergency. Port of the command chairs is the Operations console. Originally a standing position in previous Nova-class configurations, Starfleet has emphasized the role of operations manager and provided a workspace that handles all necessary functions and allows the operations officer to keep their post in case of inertial dampener failure.
The starboard console serves as a tactical station, allowing the tactical officer the ability to instantly handle tactical systems when in crisis.
