Mission: Caverns of the mind
Location: Holodeck

It had been a stressful few days in Engineering for Azusa. With all the new upgrades and systems, it had been a pain to get most of them working correctly. Not to mention on such a small science ship, getting holodeck time was hard too. The Aurora was only fitted with one small holodeck, an improvement over the older Nova class ships which didn't have one at all.

She had managed to reserve the holodeck for a couple of hours after her shift, and she had the perfect program to relax with. It was a fairly simple program, consisting of a Hawaiian beach setting which had numerous activities including beach volleyball and surfing. However she was only interested in sitting on the sand with her guitar for a good old fashioned jam session.

Dressed in a white crop top with shorts and a thin jacket over, she carried her beloved electric guitar, a Fender Japan '69 Reissue Mustang in Candy Apple Red to the holodeck in its case. She entered in the program details and was greeted by the lovely scene. A large blanket set down on the sands with the amp and wires needed to play. A few cats also laid around so she wouldn't be lonely.

"Perfect" she said as she took off her jacket to take in the sun. "Finally some time to relax" she said to herself as she started to set up her guitar. "I hope no one walks in on me. This doesn't seem like me at all" she added nervously.

Troilon had a need for a swim; the Holodeck seemed the nice place for it, she had on her black thigh cut neoprene one piece Swimsuit, some isolation but the wider legs allowed for freedom of kicking and the clip in the back allowed her back to be mostly free to just above the waistline. It fit her like a second skin with the elasticity of it and allowed better moving with less drag in the water. Not that she is a hydodynamic expert, it just felt better when moving and swimming.

She also had nice white sandals to protect the bottom of her feet from hot sand; a warm day baked sand but kept water warmer. She had been smart to wear a sleeveless zip front mini dress to cover the suit; also in black and the large brim straw hat was white. She carried the towel in a pretty aqua cinch bag with a Yellow braided rope strap.

She walk through the doors as they open when she approach and stopped dead as she saw a beach all ready for her and a woman on a blanket with instrument ... and cats?

"Oh I must apologize the doors opened and I... well Sorry." She instinctively said in Japanese out of habit and bowed as is proper for Bushido in appology.

Azusa didn't hear her come in. She was playing her guitar and. Singing along to herself. Plus a cat had curled up on her lap all happy.

Trei was ready for a swim at the Janaran Falls. He had liked to go skinny dipping as the humans called it there as a teen with his girlfriends. He had a swimsuit on (can't walk around naked), thong sandals (humans could create some VERY comfortable shoes), and a towel flung over one shoulder. His chest was bare, and he really didn't care. Betazoids were comfortable with nudity.

He entered the holodeck and saw it was already running. Troilon was bowing while backing out from a beach holoprogram.

"What's going on, T.?"

"It seems the Chief Engineer has a beach program and is playing the instrument for her... cats." Troilon shrugged.

Trei looked at the small woman and smiled. "She's...beautiful. And has a very beautiful voice."

Azusa was singing in Japanese so only she really knew the lyrics. She was pretty good with her guitar chords too, although this bring a solo it lacked depth from other instruments but was still a pretty little song. She eventually stopped and relaxed. Stretching her arms she began to pet the cat.

"Did you like that?" She asked the holographic cat.

[I thought it was very nice.] Troilon said in perfect Japanese. [PLay something else I have not enjoyed it in Japanese since last trip to Earth?]

Azusa jumped up at the comment and turned around to face the voice. She began to blush. "Wait... I thought I locked the.... oh no. How long were you there?" She was starting to feel a little embarrassed. "I'm not that good, really I'm just an amateur!" She was trying to pick out excuses for some reason that even she didn't know why.

She then spotted Trei. "Don't look!" She said trying to cover her bare belly and legs. She wasn't one for showing skin often, the extend would be her arms if she wore the short sleeved uniform. "I wasn't expecting any boys, I feel kind of... exposed" she said blushing.

Trei smiled ruefully and turned around. "That was beautiful. You have a great voice. But um...you don't have to be so shy. I thought you looked good."

Azusa dropped her guard slightly. "T...Thanks" she said in response. "Why are you both here though?" She asked. "Does that mean he likes me? Did he just think I'm cute or something? Why are men hard to understand? Wait, why is he not wearing a shirt... is that, like normal. Should I be saying he looks good too? I don't want to sound rude or desperate..." the thoughts were swirling around in her head, she couldn't help but overthink this awkward situation.

Trei raised an eyebrow but did not comment on the thoughts. "I had booked the holodeck for swimming at the Janaran Falls. I assume that Troilon, you booked it for something, too?"

Looking out Troilon shrugged. "If the Engineer does not mind an Ocean here or there does not matter I can swim it." SHe replied.

Azusa nodded. "I... I don't mind..." she replied with a nervous smile. "As long as you don't mind me singing"

Trei walked over to where Azusa was and sat down beside her. "I'd actually like to hear more of your singing. You're good." He smiled ruefully and said, "Better than I am, that's for sure."

Azusa blushed. "I'm really not that good. Not as good as Yui-Senpai" she replied with a nervous smile. "But... if you have a song. I might be able to play it for you?" she asked.

"Do you know 'My Family' by the Dutonics?" he asked with a smile. He really liked the song about the quirky family they sang about because he could totally relate.

"Can't say that I do" Azusa replied. "Any ideas what chords it uses?"

Trei sighed and shook his head. "No, unfortunately."

"Well...." Azusa said nervously. "I'll sing... something else" she replied with a rather nervous smile. "I only really know my own songs that I wrote... or the ones I wrote with my old band back in High School" she explained as she began to strum her guitar.

Trei grinned. "I'd like to hear those." As she started to play, he lay back on the sand, his hands behind his back, eyes closed, and feet moving to the music. He knew how nervous she was, and he was trying not to laugh. Sometime if she opened up a bit more, he'd ask her out. Right now, she's just really...tight.

Azusa just began to sing, she was blushing a little bit but it was a little bit like being back up on stage again.

Trei just enjoyed the sunshine, the wind, and the music. She really did have a beautiful voice. A small smile crossed his features as his feet and head moved slightly to the music.

Azusa finished the song. She put down her guitar. "Erm..." she said. "Should we perhaps join the others?" she asked. "You wanted to go swimming... we should do what you want to as well"

Trei sat up and looked at her. "Sure." He easily got to his feet and helped her up. She was very close, though.

Azusa was fairly light so she was helped up easily. She became very close to him, close enough to smell him. She blushed a bright shade of pink. He smelled musk and spices.

Trei let go of her hand and said, "I've never gone surfing. Do you know how?"

Azusa shook her head. "No... but we can... erm try?"

Trei smiled at that. "Okay. Computer. Two surfboards adjusted for Lt Nakano and Lt Jansum." The two surfboards shimmered into existence. He grabbed the larger one and said, "Race ya!" and sprinted for the surf.

"Wait... what do I do?!" Azusa said as she picked up the board. She placed it on the water and sat on it. She began to paddle, a bit like doggy-style. She wasn't sure how to do any of it. "Erm... I'll try!" she called.

Trei was trying not to laugh at her. She was cute, but she *really* needed to lighten up and relax. Aloud he said, "I don't know how to do it, either." He looked at the water and said, "Computer, one surfing instructor, please."

Azusa tried to follow what the instructor said, she really did but she wasn't the most athletic person. She fell into the water and bobbed up and down next to her surf board. After a good few tries she laid on her board trying to catch her breath, staring up at the bright blue sky.

"I'm getting quite... sleepy" she said with a small yawn as she relaxed on the waves forgetting where she was.

Trei was about to yell for her to watch out when she flipped off her board. He dived into the water and brought her up to the surface, both of them soaked through. "You okay?" he asked, trying not to laugh.

Azusa blushed as she was held close to Trei. "Yeah... I'm ok I guess... a bit... wet though..." she said trying to hide the strange feelings she was suddenly encountering.

Trei chuckled a little, but stopped himself. "Let's get you home." He looked over and saw that Troilon was still swimming. =A= Computer, notify Lt Troilon that Lt Nakano and Lt Jansum are leaving the holodeck. =A=

Trei swam them back to shore, picked up his towel, and dried himself off. He slipped his feet back into his sandals (you never knew what was on the floor) and gently guided Azusa towards the door.

Azusa simply smiled. "This was nice..." she said. "We should do it some other time. But... when I'm much better"

Trei shook his head. "How about dinner in the lounge? Gired introduced me to this great vintage that his family owns. Maybe you've heard of it. Magnolia Oaks strawberry wines and Pine Mountain meads?"

Azusa nodded and smiled cutely. "Yeah. That sounds fun"

Trei's smile widened a bit. "So it's a date." I'll see you at 1900." They continued walking until they stopped outside her door. "Here you are."

"Wait... did he just ask me out?!" Azusa thought, a slight panic in her thoughts. "Ok..." she replied simply blushing before sheepishly taking the towel and scurrying off away into her quarters.

Trei stood there, confused. "Did she not want me to ask her out? I thought she did." He walked towards his own quarters, too preoccupied to notice the looks he was getting. "Guess I'll find out tomorrow."
