The ship was smaller but the quarters were not any different than before, neither was a capitol ship so he could still say it was spacious compared to the first half of his career. This would do well to create a home.
There were only a few things that he had brought with him; more a slew of Nick-Knacks that he had put in storage; he knew the symptoms and tendencies for such actions, the 'why's and what for's' of his actions and still he made the same extreme decisions. Not everything that reminds him of her was placed in storage; though a majority of them were out of sight now, only the few things that he held most dear. The things that were to make the house more 'homey' that she chose were allowed to remain as it helped to keep a semblance of the old homestead.
Kara was gone, no longer a part of his and Mitah's life; he would have to mourn for that in his own way; not the Klingon nor Human way but the best way for Ka'Tock. Loss does not have a format for recovery and Ka'Tock is too well aware of that as well.
His son; adopted or biological made no difference to Ka'Tock, Mitah would be brought up as best Ka'Tock could manage. AT nine years old Mitah was impressionable and Ka'Tock had set him on the Path of the Warrior as this is what he knew. Trying to also keep the traditions of Mitah's Betazoid heritage took a lot of study and guess work. Not being of telepathic decent himself Ka'Tock could only be of so much use.
One practice Ka'Tock had learned in his time as the 'Imzadi' to a Betazoid was how to misdirect someone trying to get in his head; like a very pernicious child with telepathic heritage, from getting too many 'Insider' tips on his father. Much of Ka'Tock is an open book yet there are those parts that even Mitah's full Betazoid blood would never find.
The Warrior Training was something to curb that tendency as well; to leaarn the ways of honor would serve him well in the future to know boundries ; be they the implied or the Telepathic rules, to live honorably is to exsist in harmony with the universe.
Hanging the Two Bat'leths in the main was symbolic; these two blades had seen him through the War, one never left his back and the other was blooded in battle and duels. Holding the Blade of his Fallen comrade reminded Ka'Tock of times he almost wished he did not remember; a bond he will not have again. It was part of the "Ghost who Walks' and not for prying eyes. The One for the Father and his comrade passed a blade to a son. The Lower Bat'leth Ka'Tock had carried from the battle of Shintan Three to the present in honor of his friend who fell that day, the bloodiest day of the fighting, and now Mitah learned his Bat'Leth with the same blade. The two blades again spqar with one another after much rest.
Hey Dad." Mitah called as he came from his room. "I have sapce for my Bat'leth on my wall." The young man put on such a show of 'ready warrior' that Ka'Tock knew Kara would have caved in, but not a Warrior Blooded in battle, not even for the love of his sone... yet.
"WHen you take the walk of the Warrior through the gauntlet." Ka'Tock told his son , again.
"Yes Father..." Mitah used the Formal, that meant he was irritated and Ka'Tock continued his unpacking.
"Honor dictates by the words of Kahless..." Ka'Tock began.
"Nope, had that lesson to day thanks." Mitah took opportunity to retreat to his room rather than the 'Kahless Speech' that often took more timer than Mitah felt was warranted by the offense.
Having come aboard at Drydock Ka'Tock was setting up his home and then... the office. When he completed this create he turned to see a medium Duffle bag that was the reports for his office, he sighed.
"Mitah, do you want a abreak, chance to play some games?" Ka'Tock called out.
"Do I have to watch you shrink any heads?" Mitah came out of his room with a pPADD in hand, Ka'Tock had projected his emotions again.
"No; just a little preparations for the first day." Ka'Tock said. "Then what say we get some Pizza at the lounge?"
"Read my mind Dad." Mitah complemented.
It was getting harder and harder to put anything past Mitah these days and the kid was still young.
But then he was set up for the challenge.
