He has the typical pointed ears and forehead ridge, and green eyes. He is tall and thin with large hands and feet. He tends to dress in a professional business-like manner most of the time, but prefers tank tops or tee shirts with jeans and boots off duty with one of the many buckles he won at the local rodeo in his youth. |

He can be very romantic when in a relationship, and even has a drawl from growing up in the rural cattle country of central Texas. | |
Strengths & Weaknesses | + Can make any drink you can possibly imagine + Can always get his hands on Romulan Ale + Friendly + Sexy accent + Stocks up on exotic drinks every time they stop at a civilized planet + Cooks great + Likes to make exotic foods from planets they stop at - People can't get past his Romulan features - Still misses his wife - Can be a bit snobbish when it comes to the different parts of North America - Turns his nose up at replicated barbeque |
|

Hobbies & Interests | Coming up with new drinks, riding horses, calf roping, mudding, fixing trucks whether old or new, finding new ways to make the bar fun, pool, darts, swimming (and skinny dipping), and spending time with his friends. |
Personal History | Note: He has an old Romulan disruptor that he uses to defend his bar on ships against attacks. Gired was adopted by Hank Greenwood when the latter went on a mission to the Romulan empire. His mother came to him and asked him to take him with him to the Federation to get him away from his abusive military father. Looking at the bruises on Gired's face, Hank readily agreed. Gired spent the next thirty years looking after his new brothers, sister and cousins. Hank taught him all about his own culture of the South, raising cattle and crops for food, and family above all. The young boy came to see Hank as more of a father than Teterok had ever been. He loved his new mother, too, even if she did have a weird name. And he learned about strawberry wine. His new grandfather owned a wine company named Magnolia Oaks and made strawberry wines that were wonderful. Grampy Peter said if he ever learned how to take care of a bar, he would take care of the company when he was gone. Gired saw no connection between the two, but helped come up with a new watermelon wine that Grampy really liked. Gired was surprised that his brother, Tex, grew to adulthood first. Pa explained that it was because Romulans matured slower than Humans, and he would have to be patient. Gired moved out soon after Houston graduated from the Academy. He was a waiter at Ten Forward on a Galaxy class for his first assignment as a lounge worker. He was told he had to learn the trade first, but he already knew what to do, he thought. Then he was trained and apparently he didn't. He took his place behind the bar one year after he signed up and was somewhat overwhelmed the first two weeks. Finally, two weeks later, he got his 'groove'. What he didn't plan on was meeting Michelle Antoinette Robillard, a beautiful Cajun woman from the bayous around Baton Rouge. They talked about their own experiences in the South, the trouble with people who didn't understand the culture, and the beauty of their homes. For Gired, that meant open plains of wild flowers with a few oak trees, blue bonnets covering the ground, and sunsets that look like the doors of heaven had opened. For Michelle, it meant huge live oaks draped with Spanish moss, azaleas in the spring, and the morning fogs. They dated for two years before they married, welcoming their daughter Rachelle soon after. He followed her to her next posting until the Dominion War. Michelle sent Gired, Rachelle, and their new baby, Thomas, to the old ranch where it would be much safer, out away from the cities. There, Gired saw to the cows until he got the news about Michelle's death. He lay lethargic in bed for three days, not eating, barely drinking, until his mother tipped him out of bed and told him off. She reminded him that he was still a father and that his children needed him. That got him moving. He left Earth and went to Starbase 218, applying for the position of Lounge Manager. He received the position, and finally came into his own there. The children were able to grow up with lots of friends, a good school, and access to Starfleet Academy if they so chose. And they did. Rachelle chose to enter Starfleet as a Doctor, because she had no desire to let anyone die the way her mother had died. Tommy, however, chose to go into the Marine Corps like so many of their family. Gired and Hank couldn't have been prouder. His Uncle Tex raved about him for weeks, until everyone was heartily sick of it. Now, with an empty nest, Gired is ready to go back into deep space on a ship: the USS Aurora |
